POWER REDEFINED

A LETTER TO THE EDITOR

RADICAL INCLUSION: LEADERSHIP REANIMATED

RAPID-FIRE DECISION MAKING

General Dempsey has combined intellectual forces with The Starfish and the Spider author, Ori Brafman. Ori is a faculty member at UC Berkeley and the founder of the Starfish Institute. The pair is working together to co-author a book that aims to challenge traditional ideas of power and leadership. The book is set for release early in the Fall of 2017.

When Is Dominance a Liability? How can having a great deal of power—enough to dominate an industry or the world stage—be a liability? How have the rules of power been redrawn to fundamentally shift how we think about competitive advantage?

Reflections on the importance of professionalism after the Democratic National Convention.

Letters to the Editor

Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, Raleigh, N.C.

What are the two levers that leaders can pull to involve their people and achieve greater success? How can exerting greater control actually create an economic liability? When is inclusion a more effective tool to deliver timely results?

How do you decide when to decide? How do you instill a bias for action, empower your people, and create a culture that enables leaders and team members to co-create context in order to allow rapid-fire decision making to act, assess, adapt, and act again?
